Phantom replaces virtual cards during its October programme migration
Phantom is replacing Bridge-programme virtual cards with Stripe-programme cards in phases from October 5. Users need the replacement card's details in phone wallets and saved merchant accounts; Cash balances and card limits remain unchanged.
The essentials
Update facts
- Phased migration starts
- October 5
- Required app version
- 26.33+
- Wallets and subscriptions
- New details
Conditions and limits
- Wait for the replacement banner; an app update alone does not replace the card immediately.
- Add the replacement card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and update saved details directly with merchants.
- Set a new PIN if your merchants require one. The announcement names Stripe as the replacement programme provider, but does not identify its legal bank issuer.
What users need to update
Existing card details stop working when the replacement is issued. On Android, add the new card manually in Google Wallet. Adding a phone-wallet card does not update subscriptions or recurring payments saved with merchants.
Your old PIN does not transfer. Cash balance, transaction history, spending limits and pending transactions or refunds remain unchanged.
A staged transition
Until Phantom notifies you, the existing Bridge-programme card can still be used. Cards are being replaced in stages during October; update the app to version 26.33 or later to view the replacement when ready.
