From building a network to spending from it

Startale was founded in 2023, with Sota Watanabe leading a team whose blockchain work goes back to 2019. Its relationship with Sony took shape through Sony Block Solutions Labs, the joint venture behind Soneium, an Ethereum network that went live in January 2025.

The card grows out of that ecosystem. Startale App already brings together assets, Mini Apps and STAR Points; a card adds a way to use those assets beyond the app. USDSC, the stablecoin introduced with M0’s infrastructure, is also the planned cashback currency.

The company completed a $63 million Series A in March 2026, backed by SBI Group and Sony Innovation Fund. That gives this launch a broader story: a team building the network, the app and the payment experience together.

An everyday use for Soneium assets

For someone already using Startale App, paying for lunch could become another part of the same routine. The interesting test is whether the final payment flow feels as familiar as using an ordinary card.

Rewards with somewhere to go

USDSC cashback would arrive in an app with an existing rewards ecosystem. If Startale connects the programmes, card spending could make that ecosystem more useful day to day. A link between card purchases and STAR Points has not been announced.
