A card built around the wallets you already have

Spend dates its beginnings to 2025, with an initial focus on connecting self-custody wallets on Base to a debit card. The current project builds on that idea with Universal Balance: a way to bring stablecoins from multiple wallets and networks into one payment.

That is the part worth watching. Plenty of people hold assets in more than one wallet; Spend wants the card to work with that habit. Its site names wallets including MetaMask, Rainbow and Coinbase Wallet as compatible, alongside a metal card and USDC purchase rewards.

What this could unlock

Our view of the possibilities, based on the project’s direction.

Less organising before a purchase

If Universal Balance works as described, you could spend from several wallets without first assembling a separate card balance. A useful launch demo would show exactly what happens when one purchase draws on more than one wallet.

Rewards that return to your wallet

USDC rewards paid into a connected wallet could be easy to use alongside the stablecoins you already hold. The appeal will depend on the final reward rules and the cost of making payments.
